I absolutely love denim shorts. I think they’re one of the most versatile pieces a gal can have in her closet. But, let’s be honest, a lot of times it seems really tough to be able to dress them up to get that ‘chic girl-on-the-go’ look. Over the years, I’ve found a few tips and tricks that help to dress up denim shorts. These tips will allow you to wear your shorts from everything to brunch, lunch, meetings and special occasions. A lot of people have a misconception that denim shorts = your booty out. Nope.

Here are my tips to dress up your denim!

• Wear a button down, like this one or this one, that can be tucked in to give you a clean look. I have this one and absolutely love it paired with denim shorts.
• Make sure that your denim shorts are an appropriate length! Try these or these (these run large… I sized down one). Having short shorts does not look good and it is not in style! You can still look just as cute, while looking appropriate, too!
• Instead of wearing sandals, mix in a pair of pointed-toe flats! Red is always a great way to add a classic pop of color to your outfit, but you can really pair any flat, depending on your shirt.
• Wear a tote that you can bring everything in. If you’re going to a fancier event, try a cross body like this! I also absolutely love this tote, because it’s reversible! 2 in 1

Obviously, you can alter any of these tips to fit your own needs/tastes. I’ve just found that these serve as a great guideline for me when wearing a pair of denim shorts! I’m wearing these. They are expensive but I wear them all of the time… so they’re worth the investment!
