I know how it goes with us girls. We always feel like we have nothing to wear. Happens to all of us, including me. One thing I love about fashion is that it’s so versatile. There are so many ways to wear the same piece of clothing and the combinations are endless. Because I like to invest in staple pieces, like this off the shoulder top, I wanted to show you how you can dress it up and down. I really don’t know what it is with blue lately, but it seems to be taking over my wardrobe! This top is a great piece because the colors are perfect for day or night. That’s one thing I love about off the shoulder tops… they are so easy to dress up or down. To dress it up, I wore my favorite pair of dark denim that are actually cropped, so they’re great for petite gals.  These are my go-to pair of jeans. They’re a little pricy, but totally worth the splurge considering how many times I’ve worn them! I wore cognac wedges to match my purse because, after all, it is summer and I didn’t want to accessorize with anything too dark! This tote is the best thing ever and fits absolutely everything. I’ve been recommending it to everyone! To dress up an off the shoulder top, here are some of my key recommendations:

  • Make sure the top is a color that can go from dressed down to dressed up easily. Don’t pick something too vibrant, because that will be harder to dress up!
  • Wear darker denim, or black skinny jeans (I love these).
  • Accessorize accordingly. A clutch would also look adorable and give it more of the dressed up feel.

Now for the dressed down part… for the most part, I’m a super casual dresser. But, when I dress casual, I like to make sure I still look put together. One great way to dress down this top is to wear white shorts of an appropriate length. I recently got these and really love them. They’re super comfortable, long enough and are flattering. Another way to give the look a casual vibe is to add in a hat! I chose my favorite fedora because it has a chambray trim, which dresses it down and gives it more of an everyday look. I also recently got this hat and love it, too! It’s extremely comfortable and light. To finish off my dressed down look, I wore my T&N gold shimmery flats! These are the perfect everyday flats and are so comfortable. You can use the code ‘LAP25’ to get 25% off your purchase! To dress down an off the shoulder top, here’s what I would suggest:

  • Add a cute fedora or floppy hat to make it fun and flirty.
  • Either wear boyfriend shorts or a white pair of jeans to make it more daytime/casual.
  • Dress it down with either flats or sandals, whichever you prefer! Keep accessories to a minimum… no chunky necklaces!

I kept all of the accessories the same, so that it would be an easy transition to change this look from dressed down to dressed up, or the other way around. Which is your favorite look? I’ve also linked some of my favorite off the shoulder tops below!
