Happy Monday, gals! It’s officially Monday, Jan. 29, which is back-to-blogging day! It just so happens that Saturday was my four year blog anniversary (so crazy) so I wanted to share some things I’ve learned from blogging over the years. Before I do, I’m sure all of you know how in love I am with this eyelet top. I remember when I got it and realized it wasn’t online I was so upset because I couldn’t show you guys! But, now that it’s available in ALL sizes, I’m telling you it’s a must-have. Even if you live in a cooler climate right now, it’s one of those pieces you should buy now to wear later. It’s so comfortable and flattering and is so darling. I wear it at least once a week and have no shame! There are so many different ways to wear it and eyelet is one of my favorite things to wear. How about you? I’m just ready for spring to come… even though that means that the temperatures in Miami will be even hotter…ugh. Not ready for that.
Anyways, I wanted to thank everyone who’s followed along on my journey. Whether you’ve been following me for years or a month, I so appreciate you! I’m excited to be back to blogging and can’t wait for some fun content I have in the works. But, I did want to share some things I’ve learned over the years that will hopefully help aspiring or newer bloggers. And, if you’re an older blogger like me, I’m sure you’ll agree with these!
You’re not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. Don’t change just to impress others. The right people will follow you for you.
This is something you have to remember everyday. It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing and what other successful bloggers are doing. People will sniff out you being fake and unfollow in an instant. Be you and don’t change or mold yourself to fit the blogging society. The right people, who love you for you, will stick around. And the haters can hate and unfollow!
Cheating will get you nowhere.
I know that Instagram sucks right now. Trust me, it kills me. I’ve been stuck at the same amount of followers for over a year now thanks to the algorithm. But I have not once bought followers or likes. If you’re new and struggling to grow, just keep hustling and be consistent. Don’t buy followers or likes because it will catch up to you and you’ll regret it.
Be consistent!
I’m not one to speak on this because I haven’t been doing the best job at this. But, consistency is key. The more consistent you are, the faster you’ll see yourself grow and the more successful you will achieve. I know that with the IG algorithm it could be discouraging (trust me, that’s a huge reason why I had felt discouraged), but don’t let it stop you from doing what you love. Keep going and you’ll be rewarded.
Make friends in the blogging community.
This is something I did right from the beginning and am so happy I did. Some of my best friends are bloggers that I met over Instagram. These girls are my biggest supporters and they just get it. They know my struggles and they go through it with me. Reach out to girls, DM them, make friends. You’ll need them! Instagram is filled with a lot of people and with that comes hate. You want to have a strong and supportive blogging community to keep you going.
Respond to your followers!
I’ve seen so many bloggers write that they “don’t check DMs” or “are too busy to answer” their DMs and honestly this pisses me off. My followers are the reason that I am where I am today. Without them, I wouldn’t be blogging. Even if I have to stay up until 3am answering messages, I will do it. Answer your followers. Hey, some of them might even turn into some of your best friends (hey, Nicole :)).
Don’t filter your life.
In the beginning, I wanted to filter my life so that I could appear “perfect.” BAD. BAD. BAD. It’s not realistic to seem perfect all of the time. You will burn yourself out and others will catch on and get over you really fast. Let your followers know when you’re having a bad day, let them know about your bad dates, share your life with them. Especially that there are so many bloggers nowadays, it’s really important to be authentic and give them something others can’t – YOURSELF!
Don’t beat yourself down. You’re doing great. Believe in yourself.
This is something I still have to tell myself. Believe in yourself and you will go places, I promise! Of course there will be bad days but don’t let those ruin your week. Snap out of it and move forward. Onward and upward!
Hope these tips helped you! And thank you so much for stopping by! xx
