Today’s post is extremely special to me because it has to do with something that so many of us face: bullying. As a child, I was always told that ‘sticks and stones will break your bones but words could never hurt you.’ But, as I grew up, I learned that falsity of this statement. Words can hurt people in unimaginable ways. They can ruin someone’s day and, sometimes, even ruin someone’s life. Ever since I was younger, I was bullied. People used to tell me the most horrible things that would send me home in a sea of tears. There were countless days where I didn’t want to go to school because I didn’t want to have to sit alone at lunch or be criticized for standing out. I always had a passion for something and people didn’t like that. They didn’t like that I had motivation and don’t care about the trivial things in life, like drinking and recreational drugs. For that, I was bullied. Because I’m sick with fibromyalgia, I was bullied. The sad truth is that people honestly do not understand the horrible effects that words can have on others. Bullying is so painful and sometimes fatal and, if we all do our part to try to end it, I think we can put a stop to the incessant physical and emotional violence inflicted on others by bullies. When Vaiania of Le Motto reached out to me for a collaboration and spoke to me about her line, I couldn’t be happier. Wearing this sweater reminds me that there are good people left in this world, like Vaiana, who are trying to make a change. With each purchase on the site, proceeds are donated to “The Bully Project,” which educates people on how to deal with bullying. By wearing one of her creations (there are so many options with so many different positive words), you can help prevent bullying while looking stylish at the same time. I’m wearing this sweater today to show you that words can change a person’s day. Kind words can help someone who is a victim of bullying. Words can uplift the spirit of others. Use the discount code ‘laurenashley’ at checkout on the Le Motto website and help spread the word to end bullying. Words are powerful so let’s wear kind words. 🙂
I styled my sweater with some denim shorts to dress down the look and then added some sass with my brand new clutch courtesy of Madly Yours Collection. Fringe is really in for fall now and I love how this neutral brown will go with absolutely anything. To give the sweater more attention, I added a statement necklace and put my hair up to emphasize the importance of the words on my sweater. Oh, and I can’t forget my fabulous rings from Wrenn Jewelry. They will forever be a favorite of mine! Also, I now have an online digital book for aspiring and current bloggers with 40 pages worth of tips and tricks to really succeed in this industry! Follow Tips From TFD on Instagram and learn more about it and how you could purchase your online book!
I hope this post has inspired you in some way.
